The 4100TI Permanganate Index Water Quality Online Analyzer is designed for online monitoring of permanganate index in various water sources, including surface water, groundwater, water supply sources, and municipal water supply.

Detection Principles

In this method, sulfuric acid and excess potassium permanganate solution are added to the sample. After a designated period of digestion at a set temperature, organic pollutants and reducible inorganic substances in the sample are oxidized by potassium permanganate. Subsequently, excess sodium oxalate solution is added to react with the remaining potassium permanganate. The excess sodium oxalate solution is then titrated back with potassium permanganate. The change in redox potential during the titration process is used to calculate the volume of titrant at the endpoint. The permanganate index value is then calculated based on the volume, and the result is expressed in milligrams of oxygen consumed per liter of sample.
